John James Robinson
01/18/1938 - 06/19/2022
John James Robinson, a deeply loved husband, father, grandfather, and friend
went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 19, 2022. The family
rejoices in the sweetness that John met his heavenly father on Father's Day.
Born on January 18, 1938 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, John was the son of James Virgil
and Martha Karges Robinson. Raised in Kansas City, Missouri, John moved with
his family to Houston where he graduated from Lamar High School. John attended
Texas A&M University serving in the Corps of Cadets, and, in 1960,
graduated from the University of Houston. John also proudly served in the U.S.
Army and the reserves. In 1964, John earned his Certified Public Accounting
license. He owned his own practice, John J. Robinson, CPA, for thirty-six
years. In 2014, he was recognized by the Texas Society of Certified Public
Accountants as a 50-year Fellow.
John's faith in Jesus Christ and love of family were the driving forces in his
life. He lived out his faith in the choices he made, the charities he supported,
as well as in the actions he took for others. Known to always wear an American
flag pin on his lapel, John's integrity, compassion, patriotism, and loyalty
were always accompanied by his winning smile and quick wit. A member of Bethel
Church, Houston, John served on the Greeters Committee and helped with many
church projects over the years.
II Corinthians 2:14
"Thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests
through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place."
A lifelong Aggie, he was a member of the Corps of Cadets Association and the
Century Club. He served as a leader in the Boy Scouts of America working with
scouts to earn their Eagle Scout awards, on the boards of the Post Oak YMCA,
Houston Blood Bank, and the Arthritis Foundation, and was a member of Braeburn
Country Club.
John was preceded in death by his parents, and his son John James Robinson, Jr.
He is survived by his soulmate of twenty-four years Linda Carrier Robinson, his
beloved daughter Sheryl Robinson McMillan (Frank III), his brother Robert Lynn
Robinson, children by love, Kenneth Casey Hardin, and Julie Hardin Oliver
(Craig), and daughter-in-law Janie Williams Robinson. John was also a loving
grandfather to his grandchildren, Frank McMillan IV (Elizabeth), Robinson
McMillan, Luke Oliver, Caroline Oliver, and Jonathan Phy, and nephews David
Robinson (Lisa), and Gary Robinson.
Our family is grateful for the Christian care that John received from the
entire staff of Parkway Place where he made new friends and enjoyed happy times
in his final years.
On Sunday, September 11, 2022 at 1:30 p.m., Wayne Smith will officiate a
memorial service celebrating John's life at Bethel Church, 825 Bering Drive,
Houston, Texas 77057.
In lieu of customary remembrances, our family requests, with gratitude, that
contributions be made to: Bethel Church, 825 Bering Drive, Houston, TX 77057,
