Roy Houston Hefley

Roy Houston Hefley
1938-2017

Roy Houston Hefley passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, August 31, 2017 following a long battle with myasthenia gravis at the age of 79. Roy leaves behind his wife Barbara of 61 years, his five children and their spouses, 15 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, brother in law, nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.

Roy and Barbara were married on June 11, 1956. They shared a wonderful life together in the Houston area, raising their children and being involved in the community. Roy worked in the construction industry doing stucco and plastering. He retired "living his dream" in Schulenburg, Texas where he raised Santa Gertrudis cattle. He loved to sit on the front porch, visit with friends, work the ranch, and enjoy his many cats and peacocks.

In honor of Roy, please feel free to dress casual in your jeans, hat or boots. He wouldn't want it any other way. If you plan to send flowers, please send his favorite, the yellow rose of Texas, directly to the funeral home for the service. Services will be Monday, September 18, 2017 at 10:30 am, Memorial Oaks Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079 in the Robert L. Waltrip Memorial Chapel. The viewing will be on Sunday, September 17, 2017 from 5-6:30 in the funeral home. Please plan to join the family for a lunch reception following the burial.
