Hume (Skip) Reeves

July 5, 1938 – May 13, 2015

 

Hume (Skip) Wixom Reeves Jr., 76, of Cheyenne died May 13, 2015, in Frisco, Texas.

 

He was born July 5, 1938, to the Rev. Hume W. Reeves Sr. and Virginia Burnett Reeves in Fort Worth, Texas.

 

He graduated in 1964 with a bachelor's degree in business administration and accounting from Texas A&M University and a Master of Divinity in 1969 from the Virginia Theological Seminary.

 

During his ministry in Texas, he served various congregations, and was Rector of Camp Allen in the Diocese of Texas from 1974-1977.

While serving in Rockdale, he met and married Stephanie Ann Stiborik.

He went on to become rector of St. Mark's in Cheyenne.

He retired from The Episcopal Church on Dec. 31, 2003.

He founded St. Peter Apostle and Confessor, a mission of the North American Anglican Communion in 2004 and served as the rector until retiring from active ministry in 2010.

He is survived by his wife, Stephanie; daughters, Suzanne Blackaby of Kingston, Okla., Christine Johnson of Taylor, Texas, and Jennifer Beach of Lynnwood, Washington; son, Patrick Reeves of Ash Grove, Mo.; two sisters, Terry Geyer of Cleveland, Tenn., and Patricia Maddox of Azle, Texas; a brother, Frank Reeves of Roanoke, Texas; 10 grandchildren; an aunt; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Anglican Church, 252 Del Range Blvd.
